What Materials Are Used To Make Medical Protective Clothing?

Protective clothing has different properties due to the use of different raw materials. Currently, there are several non-woven materials used in medical protective clothing that are being sold and developed in the domestic market, mainly including the following.
Polypropylene spunbond fabric
Polypropylene spunbond fabric can be treated with antibacterial and anti-static agents to produce antibacterial protective clothing, anti-static protective clothing, etc. Compared to traditional cotton protective clothing, polypropylene spunbond protective clothing is undoubtedly a significant advancement. Due to its low price and one-time use, it can greatly reduce cross infection rates and has been widely promoted abroad for a considerable period of time since its initial launch. However, the material's resistance to hydrostatic pressure is relatively low, and its efficiency in blocking virus particles is also poor. It can only be used as ordinary protective equipment such as sterile surgical gowns and disinfectant bags.

Spunlaced fabric composed of polyester fiber and wood pulp
The material has a soft texture, similar to traditional textiles, and can be treated with three antibiotics (anti alcohol, anti blood, anti oil), anti-static, antibacterial, etc. It can be disinfected with Y-rays, making it a good medical protective clothing material. But its resistance to static water pressure is relatively low, and its efficiency in blocking virus particles is also poor, so it is not an ideal protective clothing material.

Polypropylene spunbond melt blown spunbond composite nonwoven fabric, namely SMS or SMMS
The characteristics of melt blown fabric are fine fiber diameter, large specific surface area, fluffiness, softness, good drape, low filtration resistance, high filtration efficiency, strong resistance to static water pressure, but low strength and poor wear resistance, which to a considerable extent limit its development in application fields. And spunbond fabric has a higher fiber density, and the fiber mesh is composed of continuous filaments. Its breaking strength and elongation are much greater than melt blown fabric, which can precisely compensate for the shortcomings of melt blown fabric. This material has the following excellent characteristics:
A uniform and aesthetically pleasing appearance;
21. High resistance to static water pressure;
③ Soft texture;
Good breathability;
Good filtering effect;
⑥ Strong acid and alkali resistance.
In addition, SMS nonwovens can also be treated with three anti - (anti alcohol, anti blood, anti oil), anti-static, anti-bacterial, anti-aging and other treatments to meet the needs of different uses.

Polymer coated fabric
There are many types of coatings used to protect fabrics, including polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polychloroprene rubber, and various other synthetic rubbers. This type of protective clothing has excellent waterproof and bacterial particle blocking properties, and can be reused. However, its moisture permeability is poor, and a large amount of sweat from the human body cannot be discharged, resulting in poor wearing comfort. The use of rubber coated fabrics in protective clothing during the SARS period is a last resort. The latest progress at home and abroad is to use microporous polytetrafluoroethylene film and fabric composite to achieve waterproof and breathable function, but it is expensive as a disposable product.

Polyethylene breathable film/non-woven fabric composite fabric
The use of non-woven fabrics and films varies depending on the level of protection required. Polyethylene breathable film/non-woven fabric composite material has excellent effects on blocking bacterial particle penetration and liquid penetration, and the feel can be adjusted by changing the softness of the composite fabric. Its tensile strength is strong, breathability is good, and comfort performance is greatly improved. It can withstand disinfection treatment, does not contain toxic ingredients, weighs 60-100g/m2, and has good cost-effectiveness. The medical disposable protective clothing made of it can protect medical personnel from pollution sources, overcome cross infection, and play an effective protective role.
